I've lived across the street from this place since it opened. Well, last night I finally made the long 5min trek to get to it and it definitely won't be my last. Great neighborhood pub and once the high rise next door is finally built this place will be packed. It will be lower Blue Mountain street's version of the John B.

Due to Covid Protocols, it's only patio seating, which I have no complaints about. Even though it's beside a busy street it isn't very loud, other than the odd.motorcycle coming by. Hand sanitizer on all tables and you seat yourself.

      The food:
      1) Cod Burger - Great battered piece of fish, pickles, and tartar sauce on a decent bun. Pretty much fish and chips in a bun.

      2) Fried Pickles - I love fried pickles. I'll order them everytime I see them on the menu. These are some of the best I've had. Great crunch from the batter. Very similar to ones you get at the VIP movie theatre.

      3) Rooftop Chicken - my friend really enjoyed it. I feel bad because the server thought she didn't enjoy the chicken. In reality my friend refused to pick up the leg and thigh piece to eat it. She used a knife and fork so she left some chicken on the bone. Think the cook was wondering there wasn't just bone left.

I gave this place 5 stars because the servers are really friendly, it's going to be my new go to local pub, and the food is everything I look for in a pub; it's just good, affordable food...nothing fancy. Decently portioned food that you're meant to enjoy and not worry about getting messy.

**Sorry, not pics this time. We arrived starving at around 8 and scarfed the food down as soon as it arrived. I also didn't want to seem rude to my ride and take my phone out while we were eating.

Love this place. ! We try and support local business. We love our local family owned pub. And the Lantern is our other location. We have felt welcome from their opening and always enjoy their happy hour food and drink. They have done a great job having to open during the pandemic . Friendly staff. Nice atmosphere. Good prices and food. Can't ask for more in the local Coquitlam area.

Boyfriend and I came in here during their happy hour wanting to see what kind of food and drinks were offered. S.O got the Lantern Staple burger with fries ($14). This was not part of their happy hour special so he got it full price. He thought the burger patty was quite thin and not a lot of flavour. There was a lot of chopped vegetables on top it the patty, things like tomatoes, celery(?), and lettuce which was nice and fresh but just seemed weird that there was more veggies than the beef patty itself. Fries was nice and crispy but definitely the serving size for the burger and fries did not satisfy my boyfriend's hunger. He also got a Lantern Lager ($4 for HH), I had a sip and it automatically tasted like Budweiser to me. As for me, I got the chicken tender with fries ($7.50 for HH) and I quite enjoyed it. It came with three pieces and a handful of fries. Again the fries were nice and crispy and seasoned well. The most impressive part of the meal was that the tenders were not frozen, prepackaged ones. They were actually real chicken breast breaded with panko so it packed that crunch. Came with a side of honey mustard dipping sauce which was also fantastic. Server was great and tentative. I would come back and try something else and since it's such a close proximity to my house it's a good alternative to Woody's.
