Fun atmosphere but the food quality and taste was severely lacking. The enchiladas were completely devoid of flavor, and the tortilla was basically stale. They were swimming in a sea of nondescript red sauce that I have never seen anywhere near enchiladas before. The barbacoa beef in the tacos was totally overcooked and tough to chew, while also lacking any flavor (oh, and guess what, also served alongside that mysterious red sauce). The chips they give you at the start are served in a ramekin the size of a tiny ashtray. The drinks were below average.

Great Mexican Style Food at the Old Town of Poznan.
Found 'The Mexican" Restaurant first in Poznan years ago. The Restaurant is located in the Old Town.. Stare Miasto.. in the ul. Karmarska, only a few seconds away from the Rynek. And it seems you are somewhere in Mexico. The Restaurant is pituresquely situated in a quite backyard.
I chose the Fajitas with chicken.. oh man.. very spicy.. and very delicious. You can chose how spicy it comes. Fajitas de Pollo , marinated slices of chicken with onions and pepper, served in an hot pan. great.. hot... tasty.. delicious... together with some slices of flatbread, and some dips. And this with a fresh and tasty polish beer... great.
The Service ist friendly and okay.

Food was good. Great atmosphere and dessert experience. However our waiter was very slow in refilling our drinks. Would have bee 5 stars other than that

Bad service. Not so good food (it seemed the food was pre-made and warmed up). Bad drinks (strawberry margarita tasted really bad... not like a real margarita)
The only good thing is the place looks nice and makes you feel a bit in Mexico (granted it will be a sunny day).Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype Gebruiker (harmfu…)Poznan, Polen1126 nov 2009
Cult place in some circles due to the legend of Zorro appearing when you order a cheese cake. Although the waiters really would dress up as Zorro and rush at your table with the cake as the lights dimmed, it's no longer practiced. Shame shame shame!
Still, the traditional Mexican food is great and portions are huge for the money. Waiter service is very nice and direct, to the point they sit together with you at your table to get the order and chat a little. Non-alc drink refills are free of charge, no limits! Also, funny habits and ways of bringing extra entertainment, like taking a picture of the challenging you drinking the big-ass cocktail drinks to later commemoratively hang it on the wall;) Add cool decorations and you get a restaurant definitely one of its kind, totally worth of visiting. Even though Zorro has been fired for some reason;)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lukas V.Stare Miasto, Polen0219 mrt 2015
To say that the Mexican is mediocre is a grave overstatement of its horrors contained. While the decor is nice and the atmosphere is quite pleasant, faintly reminiscent of a true Mexican eatery, that, unfortunately, is where the positive qualities stop.
If you're aiming to get a lot of food for your money, I'm not sure that the Mexican is your place to go. I wouldn't go so far as to call it expensive, but there are many other places that offer more for less. That being said, its prices are competitive for what you can get in the Old Square.
The drinks there (alcoholic, of course) are rather poor. Their margaritas are a little weak and fake-tasting, similar to what you'd get from using a pre-made mix from a plastic bottle. For the money that they charge for these drinks, I would have expected at least some real limes being used in their cocktails. Their flavored margaritas aren't any better, tasting of flavor syrup mixed with the pre-mixed cocktail that's been sitting too long on the bartender's counter. I can't say that this is a distinctly authentic experience.
With regards to the food, I've vowed never to go there again. The food tastes as though reheated in a microwave several times over the course of the day before being shipped off to the customer. I strongly advise to avoid the refried beans, as those have resulting in several of my friends (myself included) having food poisoning for the next day (in the interest of science, I have verified that this is not a one-time occurrence). The "build your own fajitas" are rather hit-and-miss, as they tend to be a little erratic with their seasoning. However, the burrito was absolutely inedible. Topped with underseasoned guacamole, sour cream, and those lethal refried beans, it was nothing more than a soggy mess that was warm to the touch on the outside, but cold on the inside, which is a dead giveaway of microwaving food. There was absolutely no taste in the filling, and despite this, the staff were unwilling to rectify this in any way.
If you want to feel like you're in Mexico on a nice sunny Summer's day, then the Mexican's courtyard is the perfect place to take a few photos and move on. If you're on the prowl for good food, the Mexican is the place to avoid.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
