I stopped in Mulhouse to visit the Musee de L'Auto https://www.yelp.com/biz/cité-de-l-automobile-collection-schlumpf-mulhouse?hrid=57MJcDCUuuIKwLW4JmMOBA but on the way, could not miss the Mulhouse Christmas markets. Similar to others I've been to this year in Baden-Baden and Colmar, this takes place around the main squares in the city center in the shadow of the main cathedral. I did not spot much police or security. There were not nearly enough traffic bollards.
You can expect to find kiosks with trinkets, candies, baked goods, clothing, toys, spices and of course, vin chaud (both red and white). I did my walking through and it was the smell of a huge vat of bacon with potatoes that called my name. Balancing my mulled wine on a slightly wobbly table, I ate a delicious bowl of potatoes. All of the vendors I interacted with spoke enough English to get by, supplemented by pointing. Easy enough.
Despite being a Sunday afternoon, it was not too busy perhaps because it had just finished raining. I had fun and now I have a few more things in my suitcase coming home with me.
