Mai Garten

Excellent authentic Chinese food - chef from Yangzhou - small basic restaurant- dishes printed on board. Very authentic - just like in China ! Recommend: Duck, pork belly over pickles, Xiao long Bao, vegetarian buns, tomato with eggs (yes just like in China)

For simple, no-frills Chinese food in the Au/Glockenbachviertel area, Mai Garten is not a bad option. The place is small (seats no more than 15-16 people), but we came on a weekday evening so we had no problem getting a table although it got crowded quite fast when we were eating there (take-out is certainly an option).

The food options are basic -- a few meat, noodle, vegetarian, and dumpling options -- but cheap (5.50-6.50 €/dish) and tasty. (Disclaimer: we only tried the Sichuan eggplant and vegetarian dumplings.) A highlight for us was the dumplings: good portion for a decent price with a good amount of stuffing.

I wouldn't go out of my way to go there, but since it's a couple of blocks away from home, I can easily go back there for some unpretentious and simple home cooking.

Surprisingly cheap and good Chinese restaurant. Nice dumplings are recommended! Make me feel like home~

There is not a lot of place inside, so try to get in before the crowd :)
Meals are delicious and you can creat your own. This is not expensive and perfect for a fast lunch !

This place is DISGUSTING! My partner and I were craving Chinese food and decided to take a shot at it, I wish we hadn't please avoid this place at all costs.

The only upside was the cheap beer!

It is OK for a quick meal. Nothing fancy, the food is not very tasty and can be a bit greasy, but is a nice option for take-away.
